Climates
Winter (Dec-Feb)
Known for its crisp weather and clear skies,
most
frequented treks are available during the winter
season when mountain views are often at their
best. If you are trekking over 2500mtrs it is
necessary to be well prepared, nights can be extremely
cold.
Spring / Summer (Mar-May)
This season is also very popular, the weather
is clear and warm with flora and fauna at their
best. Rhododendron forests are bursting into bloom,
most treks up to 3000 mtrs are very comfortable.
Monsoon (Jun-Aug)
The rains arrive from mid June and continue to
late August early September. The monsoon season
is not a suitable time for trekking although some
trekking is available in the rain shadow. It is
possible to trek in the Upper Mustang region and
the Dolpo region along with a small part of Lower
Mustang. In other regions of Nepal, mountain views
are rare . This season is a very busy time in
the fields with vegetation at its most verdant.
Autumn (Sept-November)
Autumn is the major trekking season in Nepal,
views are very clear and the weather in general
very reliable. Most treks are warm during the
day, nights are cooler, you will need adequate
warmth.The early part of the season provides some
wonderful opportunities to experience the gathering
of the rice harvest, it is also a good time for
spotting migratory birds. |
Equipment
list
The equipment you will require will be influenced
by where you are trekking, what time of year and
whether you are tea house trekking or camping.
If you are camping, it is likely you are using
a trekking agency who will carry the majority
of equipment you will need. Two important items
before considering anything else, are well fitting
walking boots and a good sleeping bag.The vast
majority of sleeping bags nowadays come with all
the information you require to assess if it is
the right one to you. Most trekking companies
